Down on the farm 84 last month 11/25

Klemm L25C G-ACXE

The Klemm was given a last flight before winter and cylinder number 6 fouled its plugs, so we pulled it off and am giving a refurbish. The runway flooded last week for the first time this winter but with a bit of luck it might dry out enough to fly it before it becomes impossible.

No movement

Beagle Terrier G-ATDN TW- 641

The Funke mode S transponder and 8.33 radio are being mounted on the right hand side of the panel where the old radio stack was, it should be an improvement functionally and make the plane lighter.

The tail wheel and glider tow unit was looking a bit sad with rust etc so it has come off and was taken down to bare metal and re-sprayed which should give it a few more years of good service.

Tony Berryman ferried a Truxton Jackaroo from Headcorn to Sywell last week and took these nice pics. You may know that they cut and shut Tiger Moths to produce this 4 seat rocket ship??

ADS-B Conspicuity services continue to roll out

Strut member Steve Hutt has been successfully pursuing his campaign to improve aircraft electronic conspicuity (EC) take-up for a number of years. He has been working with uAvionics who manufacture SkyEcho, the portable ADS-B out device. Their range of ADS-B based products has been steadily expanding. They have just announced a major contract with the FAA to supply systems to manage surface movements at major airports. See the details here: uavionix.com/press/faa-accelerates-surface-awareness-initiative-rollout-with-major-contract-award-to-uavionix-for-55-additional-airports

Shoreham Airport has introduced their own EC display in the tower, so don’t be surprised if they seem to know where your are better than you do! Their system is called Aerium and integrates ADS-B, multilateration (MLAT) data, FLARM and PilotAware. Their News page has details at: flybrighton.com/the-airport/news-whats-on
