Old Sarum Fly-In Sunday 1st October

There is an event taking place on Sunday 1st October at Old Sarum.
Old Sarum had to cancel their air-show, so a fly-in has been arranged.  Although not an LAA event, it would be nice to support it, as the aerodrome is one of the oldest in the UK and is celebrating its 100th year.
The clubhouse cafe will be serving food and drink all day, free landings are offered, as well vintage vehicles and bikes should be part of the things to see.  A band is being organized I’m told, as well as The Boscombe Down Museum which is based on the site are offering LAA members a discount of 50% off the entrance price – just bring along and show your LAA membership card on entry.
The airfield manager has asked me to point out that all circuits are to be to the South, PPR not needed, just call up, and non radio visitors please try and come in loose formation with someone who can transmit if possible for you.
The event opens from 10.00am to about 4.30pm.

Is this the start of something, or are substantial amounts of money being wasted (not that Dubai is short of it)?

Interesting that the drone still hasn’t got anyone sitting in it yet!  Would you hale that particular cab?

I drove up to the rally with fellow Strut member Steve Hutt on the Saturday.  The event was buzzing!  Masses to see and plenty of interesting people to talk to.  Here is a random selection of things that caught my eye.

The goal of the GoFly Prize is to foster the development of safe, quiet, ultra-compact, near-VTOL personal flying devices capable of flying twenty miles while carrying a single person.
