Bits and pieces
Alan Weal’s LAA memorial bench: – I have the new bench at home and have ordered the plaque to go on it. I have had the ok from the Airport management to be able to site our bench in front of Terminal one overlooking the apron. Hopefully I can get the bench over to the Airport soon once it is complete: I will advise once it is place.

Plymouth fly-out by David Skertchly
On Saturday 1st Oct the Grumpy Gang, a disreputable association of Grumman and ex Grumman Pilots descended on Plymouth. The Airport is due to close on the 23rd December, and the ATCers had arranged a fly in which had promptly been banned by the owners (Plymouth City Council) so we flew in anyway!
There must have been about 12 Grumpies (and hangers-on!). Great weather of course. I flew down with John Perry (Ian’s Dad) in my Grumman Cherokee. Lunch was had at the pub down the road – The Dead Duck or the Rat & Parrot or The Jack Rabbit or something – Anyway, whatever it’s name it was very pleasant and the burgers were very tasty.
During our noshings we discussed Cambridge as a destination – There’s a free landing invitation for October and we thought it would be worth a visit. How about Saturday October 22nd? Any takers? You don’t have to be a Grumpy to come – but it helps!
Here’s what you have to do to get the free landing:- The offer is valid for all registered light single engine piston aircraft up to two tonnes and can be taken up by calling for PPR on +44 (0)1223-373214 quoting the special offer code: UKGACA1.
