Down on the farm 81 last month 8/25
Palmersfarm Flyin

The weather was good on the day (not so good either side!!) and we had 32 arrivals. The planes were parked right down past the flat area to the North of the strip. We collected £490 for the RAF benevolent which was a record. We had about 6 Alvis and 4 Austin Healeys and a few more other interesting cars.

Lesley worked for weeks before in food preparation mode and worked flat out until all the food was out on the day. She fed an estimated 100+ heads. Thank you so much!!, it was a family affair as our daughter dealt with the booking and out of the plane arrivals.

Klemm L25C G-ACXE
The Klemm got an airing but on its 4th flight the hand brake cable lower nipple came away and we had no brakes and no steering on the ground so it was retired back to the hanger. It has been repaired, the soldering was not done correctly.
Prentice G-APPL VR189
No movement.
Beagle Terrier G-ATDN TW- 641
This plane is a new purchase which I brought from Sue Saggers who sold us the Prentice. Beagle in their infinite wisdom refurbished military Austers and called them a Terrier A61, it evidently cost more to do than build a new one!!!
This plane was TW641 when it was used by the Army and flies without its CAA registration. It is a CAA plane at present and is going over to a LAA permit.

Next club night September 3th 2025
LAA rally is on this weekend and BristellUK will be there again, see you there!!
The club subscriptions will stay at £25 this year as it just covered the Xmas meal cost and will hopefully cover next year’s prices.
Please, PLEASE can we have club members come up with things to do this year!!! Maybe organise trips out to museums, flyouts, someone to do an interesting talk??

“Require public consultation before airfields and aerodromes can be closed”
Airfields and aerodromes play a vital role in the UK’s transportation network, economic growth, emergency services, and heritage. However, some sites may be closed and redeveloped, often without sufficient public consultation or long-term strategic consideration.

Palmers Farm Fly-in 2nd August 2025
A few more pictures from Tony’s excellent fly-in.
A great event with some interesting aircraft – and cars – on show. A trip down memory lane for me looking over the Healeys. As a ‘youf’ I had the MG equivalent – top down, open road, wind in my hair (when I had some)…
Many thanks to Leslie for the excellent catering.
